Francis Gbormittah lectures in media arts and culture related courses such as radio, television, video, and media and society studies at the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Ghana, Legon. He is a practicing filmmaker with specialty in scriptwriting and art direction. Francis submitted his PhD thesis in July 2018. He worked between 2001 and 2007 as a lecturer in Film Aesthetics and Art Directing at the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI). He has high desire for teaching and research. Francis has conducted research and published in many areas of knowledge production such as on media and cinema (narrative and the response to narrative; images and the perception of images; visual theory and culture; performance studies), education and technology. He participated in various national and international conferences, seminars, workshops and festivals and presented papers on varied subjects. He served on many boards and committees such as the Graduate Committee of the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Ghana, Legon, 2012-2014; National Film and Television (NAFTI) Board of Governors, 2009-2011; Faculty Board, Faculty of Arts, University of Ghana, Legon, 2012-2014; Editorial Committee of the Journal of Performing Artsof the School of Performing Arts (SPA), University of Ghana, 2011-2014; Editorial Committee of SPA and University of Ghana Book Project, 2012-2013.
